Every year, on February 22 and October 22, people gather at the great temple of Ramses the Second – The Abu Simbel Temple. On these two days, we celebrate the Sun Festival during dawn, when we see the sun rise and shine into the dark inner chamber of the temple. The great thing about this phenomena is that the sun only shines on the statue of King Ramses’s face, while leaving the statue of God of the Shadows remains in the shadows!
